Movie Review - GALLOWWALKERS

I have been looking forward to movies done with Wesley Snipes since he got out of prison so I was looking forward to this. Not only was it a zombie movie but it starred Wesley Snipes. Yay! Unfortunately I was utterly disappointed.

Billed as a western movie revolving around a cursed man (Snipes) whose victims come back to life, this sounded interesting. Plus, being a western, I don't know how many zombie westerns any of you out there have seen but I don't remember seeing any, I thought it would be an interesting take on the zombie genre. It was but the movie was terrible.

This was a western in the sense that it involved the desert, guns, ad cowboy hats, otherwise this was more of a supernatural movie involving sorcery, weird zombie like characters, and odd characters. This was a movie about revenge. After the love of his life is raped Snipes goes on a rampage for revenge, unfortunately she dies giving birth to a child created through the rape. All of the people he kill come back as flesh needing zombies.

The zombies are imaginative but if you understand the zombie genre they shouldn't be considered zombies. Yes, they are resurrected undead people, but they don't eat the flesh of the living. They just use the flesh of the living to cover their rotting bodies when their old flesh rots away.

Honestly, I didn't find this movie interesting. It was not well defined, and honestly I didn't care enough about any of the characters to care what happened to them. None of the characters were that interesting, the reason Snipes was cursed wasn't well defined, I didn't care about his mother or what happened to her or why she gave up her soul, and none of the other characters were wonderful.

I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone, it was just so awful I almost turned it off without finishing it. I watched it so that all of you out there who might stumble across this blog don't waste your time watching this movie. Please, skip it, watch DEAD SNOW instead.
