So let me just start with the movie, on it's own. This movie follows Callum Lynch, a man who we meet on the day he is being put to death. He has committed a crime which ends him up in the death chamber and we see him being put to death. The next time we meet him we see him on another table being awoken by a young woman with innocent looks who tells him he now has a choice. The choice isn't really his. He ends up being attached to a machine which lets the scientists look into the past of his bloodline. Things get worse from there.
This movie is a pretty well done action flick, but there isn't a lot of plot development. It throws the main character, Callum, into the action without any real development. We don't know much about his past or how he got to where he was except for one single line about "it was a pimp." There isn't even really much development into the past of the Assassins or the Templar communities (the Templars being the ones who oppose the assassins). So I personally would have liked a little more development into what was the background of the characters or the two groups. A history could have been easily added in the action.
Now according to Seth Foster, one of the people who went with me, the story doesn't really follow anyone from the video games in a proper fashion, nor are there a good variety of weapons used from the game. Also the machine that Callum gets strapped into is nothing like the machine in the game, where in fact the machine in the game is a chair.
Over all the movie was visually stunning and very exciting. The action was well done and if this were a hot summer day the movie would have been enjoyed a little more (as it was it was 75 today so it wasn't too bad).
I say wait until this is available as streaming and watch it then.
