October is my favorite month. Why? Because I love Halloween, I love scary movies, I love haunted houses, I love the feeling in the air, I love that it provides the entrance to the holiday season, I love everything about October.

Some thing that I love it because I am a horror author, but I love the magic of October. It is a time t0 reinvent yourself. You can dress up on Halloween to be whoever you want. You can start enjoying fancy Starbucks drinks and candy and life. I know everyone has their season, I think mine it the fall.

It is funny though because I really dislike Christmas, and since I have digestive issues Thanksgiving can be hard on me. I am also allergic to apples, so let's say that all of the apple cider, and caramel apples, and delicious apple pies are constant reminders of what I am missing out.... I wasn't always allergic to apples. However, like everything else I make due with what I have been burdened with.

I grew up and lived in San Diego, California, for a long time. The seasons don't change much in San Diego, and the joke that it is 70 all year round, well it is closer to 75 and there are very few seasons. People love this, and I thought I did too, until I visited Maine, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island during the fall. Seasons are magical. Watching the leaves change colors, the crisp feel as the air turns from humid and unbearable to delightful and refreshing, and the beauty of the landscape is awesome. I now live in Virginia, and the leaves are changing. The sky is getting dimmer and the clouds are getting longer and wider. The night isn't as loud as it was all summer as the bugs start to move on.

I love October. I love the weather and the chill in the air. I look forward to winter, when the world slows down and hot chocolate is the drink of the night. I do enjoy Halloween, and it is honestly my favorite holiday, but I love October for so much more than the holiday, I love it because it is October.

I know it's only September but I wanted to post an update because October is going to be a busy month for me.

First thing is I am going to be in a theatrical version of CLUE. It runs October 30, 31, and November 6, 7, 8, and 9. It will be at the Renaissance Theater in Huntsville, Alabama. I just decided to try out for fun, and it's been a while since I did anything theatrical so I tried out and got the part of the cook. Fun times because once again I get to die. I love dying, it is so much more fun to die in a film or play than it is to be a living person. I've been stabbed, shot, shot with an arrow, hung, strangled, suffocated, shot up with an overdose of drugs, and I believe once I committed Seppuku.

Second I will be selling my books at Rocket City Lit Fest October 10 and 11. I'm reading Saturday, October 10 at 11:30am, and I am part of a panel talking about the introduction of graphic novels to newbies. Hopefully I will have the third book ready to sell at Lit Fest but I'm not sure I can order them by then. If not there is another chance as I will also be participating in Rocket City NerdCon, and I will be a featured author at Lowe Mill Out Loud October 21.

Lowe Mill Out Loud starts at 6:30pm. There will be a lot of fun authors reading their short stories and their poems. I will be reading a story or two and maybe a chapter or two from one of my books.

Rocket City NerdCon is October 23-25. I will absolutely have the third book ready to sell then. I will also have some shoes and other goodies that I will be selling there. Come see me! I look forward to meeting fans and other people interested in horror and zombies!!!

October

October is going to be a very busy month for me. I have time at a Lit Fest where I will be talking about my books and selling my books. Then I have a night at an open mic where I will be reading some of my zombie stories and hopefully selling some books, then I have a nerd convention where I will have three days to try to sell my books. I think I'm excited, but I'm also quite nervous. I mean who ever thought I would have that much going on for my books in one month? Not me!

Yes, I am working on a zombie series, and I only have one book left to write, and I'm doing it. Although currently I am working on a short story to be published after I get the third book out. I'm working on what to say to people at these events. I mean I don't want to be all, "Um, yeah, so buy my book" when people seem to get enough of that. I don't like things being all about me and my books, then again how else am I supposed to sell my books?

I don't know if any other authors out there have this problem. I like it when people buy my books, but I don't want to seem pushy and unapproachable. I want people to feel like they can talk to me about whatever, mostly horror, but anything they want.

So how do I sell? I be approachable. I make sure I'm a likable person. I talk zombies. I talk THE WALKING DEAD. I talk what my favorite zombie movie is. I talk. That's how to sell a book. Talk to people. Just talk.
