Zombies

When writing from a zombies point of view what would you listen to dear internet reader? Today this was just the question, what do I listen to when writing from a ten year old zombies point of view, and yes, she is much wider than most living ten year old's.

This is what happened when I let her choose my music:

Mother by Danzig
Blood Pressure by Mutemath
Cry Little Sister by G Tom
Ladies of the World by Flight of the Concords
Cradle of Love by Billy Idol
Dragula by Rob Zombie
Fuck You by Cee Lo Green
Back to Black by Amy Winehouse
They Won't Go When I Go by George Michael
Dirty Paws by Of Monsters and Men
Chop Suey by System of a Down
Left Hand Free by alt-J
The Nights by Avicli
In The Air Tonight by Phil Collins
Far From Any Road by The Handsome Family

Then I lost my train of thought so only 1640 words down today, but again that is better than zero. So I am on my way to getting book 4 ZOMBIMERICA done. I'm working on the free story that goes between books 3 and 4, which is good for you out there in internet-land. Plus, in September and October I have evens in Huntsville, Alabama where I will be selling myself, signing books, and basically pimping zombies. So look for more information on those events, coming to this blog near you soon.

Writing Playlist for the day

I was in a mood today, writing from an emotionless teenage girls point of view. I know, that is probably an unrealistic character, but if you grew up with no family and zombies were an every day part of life, you might be emotionless too. Anyway, I digress, I liked this playlist so I decided I'd post it today.

Meet Virginia by Train (I played this one 4 times because it just worked for me)
Sounds of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel
Take Me to Church by Hozier
Do I Wanna Know by Arctic Monkeys
Something to Believe In by Poison
Praying for Time by George Michael
Africa by Toto
Strange Fruit by Billie Holiday
Wind of Change by Scorpions
Waiting by George Michael
One More Try by George Michael
Mother by Lissie
Blaze of Glory by Bon Jovi
Another Day In Paradise by Phil Collins (don't judge)
Oh Father by Madonna
Hey You by Pink Floyd
Skyfall by Adele

And that is where we will end for the day.

2,260 words written in an hour and a half. Not bad, not bad at all for someone who has been dealing with severe writer's block

Movie Review - THE VOICES

This is what IMDb says - A likable guy pursues his office crush with the help of his evil talking pets, but things turn sinister when she stands him up for a date. But the movie was much more than that. It wasn't about two evil talking pets, only the cat was evil (as cats are), but the dog was not evil. In fact it seemed like the dog was a moral conscience for the guy.

This movie starred Ryan Reynolds as the main character Jerry. Jerry seems like an all american guy with a normal job and a somewhat active social life. He has some obvious awkwardness in social situations, but he does get a few date. None of the dates end well however, and the viewer finds out that not everything is as it seems. Jerry is an odd duck. He talks to his pets, a dog and a cat, then again what single person doesn't talk to their pets. He is awkward when asking women out, but he does get a few dates. Plus, he is good at his job, at least no one there has noticed anything odd about him. Problem is, Jerry has a secret, and that secret involved a lot of plastic takeout boxes, and a saw.

This movie was weird, and when I say that I mean it in a good way. There are a lot of weird movies out there, not all of them are good, but this one was pretty funny. It was a dark comedy about love and death and how pets influence you. Jerry was a really interesting character. The viewer didn't expect him to be the man he really was.

This movie was funny in just the right spots. The talking animals were both very rich characters and they really added to the absurdity of this movie.

While this seems to have been made earlier than it was (the video quality was odd) it was made in 2015. The video quality really made it seem like it was made in the '80's.

If you have time, and not much to do, I recommend watching this movie. It has humor, love, murder, and animals.

The Stanley Hotel

I was upset to see the actual hotel after building it up in my mind. While Estes Park Colorado is fabulous and the scenery is beautiful, the hotel itself is not wonderful. I have several pictures of peeling paint, water spots on the ceiling, stains and frayed carpet, and doors that do not close properly (meaning light shines through or the door is not flush with the door jamb). The history of the hotel was fascinating, including the explosion which caused a woman to go through the floor, but the hotel itself didn't live up to my expectations.

Contrary to many people, I enjoyed the movie created by Kubrick. I know Stephen King wasn't a fan and made his own television series which was filmed at the Stanley Hotel. I know the Stanley Hotel was the place where King really wanted the movie set. I am not a fan of the television series and think is was seriously miscast, but those are my thoughts and opinions.

The hotel was set in a beautiful place, and the ghost stories were just as interesting as the history, but the hotel looked like it was falling apart and not really being cared for like it should be. It wasn't at all spooky, and the tour was a little dull (however the tour guide was fun). It didn't cost much, and I am glad I did it, but it isn't something I would need to do again, and in all honesty I probably wouldn't stay at the hotel if given the chance.
